SUMMARY:Vivid Art Gallery First Friday Art Opening
DESCRIPTION:Vivid Art Gallery will host an art opening for Featured Artist Jane D'Angelo and Local Artist Sofia Ansaldo on February 1st at its monthly First Friday event. The opening\, which runs from 5-8 PM\, is open to all and is free of charge. In addition to great art\, there will be refreshments\, including the gallery's signature "Monet Mule" cocktail. Live jazz will also be playing at the gallery to round out the evening.\n\n \n\nD'Angelo will be presenting new work in her exhibit entitled Country Roads. As the title suggests\, these new paintings are a collection of rural scenes\, a departure from her earlier body of work painting the Chicago urban landscape. Her trademark deft treatment of light and shadow is evident in all the pieces in the exhibit. Says D'Angelo\, "I am an impressionist landscape artist and it is always light and its effects\, subtle or dramatic\, that inspire me. Each of my paintings represents a moment in time when light influences colors\, values and shapes in a captivating way." \n\n She continues\, "I have changed my focus to "quieter" places in the Midwest landscape. Whether a farm house in the distance or a big red barn up close and personal\, these paintings are more about larger shapes and resting places." D'Angelo's work is characterized by a sense of longing or wistfulness\, reminiscent of Edward Hopper's work\, which creates an emotional response in the viewer. Says D'Angelo\, " My continued hope is that I am able to transport viewers of each painting to a moment in time and a place they will enjoy." \n\n \n\nAlso on display during the month of February will be works by Local Artist Sofia Ansaldo. Her exhibit\, titled State of Flow\, will include her most recent abstract paintings. About the inspiration for her work\, Ansaldo says\, "One of the things I enjoy most when creating my art is the possibility of observing and feeling nature through the lens of the different seasons. Changes in nature are my main source of inspiration when it comes to colors\, light and even textures. I try to capture a tiny bit of what I perceive and transform and abstract its essence into something new."\n\n \n\nPlease join us in celebrating these two artists!
