The Story of Stuff. With just 5 percent of the world’s population, the United States consumes 30 percent of the world’s resources and creates 30 percent of the world’s waste. If everyone consumed at U.S. rates, we would need three to five planets. This alarming fact drove Annie Leonard to create the Internet film sensation The Story of Stuff, which has been viewed globally more than 30 million times. This celebrated documentary explores the threat of over consumption on the environment, economy, and our health. Leonard examines the “stuff” we use every day, offering a galvanizing critique and steps for a changed planet. The Story of Solutions, released in 2013, explores how we can move our economy in a more sustainable and just direction, starting with orienting ourselves toward a new goal - not more, but better – better health, better jobs and a better chance to survive on the planet.
