Orthopaedic Surgery - Sportsmedicine - Stem Cell-PRP Treatment
I am a board certified Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in knee and shoulder surgery, especially ACL and rotator-cuff tear. However, I am also one of the most experienced Orthopaedic Surgeons in the country in stem cell, platelet rich plasma and regenerative medicine (in which I am also board certified) treatment of orthopaedic disorders. Through my 501c3 medical foundation, The FOREM (the foundation for Orthopaedics and Regenerative Medicine) we have been conducting a prospective study of such treatments since 2010. This is the largest by an Orthopaedic Surgeon in existence to the best of our knowledge: numbering over 3000 as of the end of 2018 and gives us a powerful database not elsewhere available to help predict results of treatment. I am a graduate of Princeton University (BA), Johns Hopkins Medical School (MD), U of Chicago surgical internship, Rush Orthopaedic residency (with 25 years’ experience as assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery) and Harvard medical School/Massachusetts General (orthopaedic and Sportsmedicine fellowship). My family and I are 22-year Winnetka residents with two New Trier grad daughters (as I am, from East).
STEM CELL AND PRP TREATMENT
Our most extensive work involves using PRP and stem cell treatments to provide alternatives to surgery. We have a greater than 80% success at two years in using stem cell treatment to avoid total knee replacement in eligible patients; and a 100% success rate so far in using Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP.
