Adulting 101: Save Your Money! w/ Lars Skarie
It seems that "adulting" has become millennials new favorite word. On any given day, you can scroll through Facebook or Twitter and learn about the newest "adult" mishap. Here are a couple examples:
"Being in your 20s is like playing a video game where you skip the tutorial and you just sort of run around with no idea how anything works."
"Funny how when I was younger I couldn't wait to grow up. Now that I'm grown up all I want to do is lie face down on the carpet."
What researchers are witnessing in young people is not a lack of responsibility or drive. We are seeing young people who want to to grow up, and not grow up. Young people who dream of being independent, but desire support, familiarity, and safety.
The purpose of "Adulting 101" is not to shame, mock, or humiliate. We all have to start somewhere. We want our youth to be welcomed into an environment where no skill is useless, and no question goes unheard. Staff at the WYO hope this monthly workshop will ease anxiety, offer inspiration, and send the message that growing up is an ongoing and exciting process.
This month's #Adulting101: Sometimes it's rough being a teen and managing money! How do you manage your savings? Your budget? Your bank account? How can you make more money with what's in the bank?! Come find out at #Adulting101 with Lars Skarie, Loan Officer at Wintrust.
